The Sensorcon Protector (PRO-CO-1000) is a handheld carbon monoxide detector built for HVAC technicians and industrial gas monitoring professionals who need accurate, reliable CO readings in the field. It uses an advanced electrochemical sensor to measure CO from 0 to 1,000 ppm with 1 ppm resolution and a typical response time under 13 seconds. The unit is intrinsically safe for use in hazardous atmospheres and carries an IP67 ingress protection rating, making it resistant to dust and submersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
CO Detection and Alarm System
The Protector provides four adjustable alarm thresholds combining flashing LEDs, an audible alarm rated at 95 dBA, and vibration alerts. Alarm sequences increase in intensity with higher CO exposure levels. Default exposure limits are set at 35 ppm (Low/TWA) and 200 ppm (High/STEL), and all thresholds are user-configurable. The 128 x 128 graphic LCD with backlight displays real-time CO concentration, battery status, STEL, shift TWA, and current time. Built-in memory stores up to 1,109 alarms, 359 bump tests, 19 calibrations, and 359 shift logs.
measureQuick Wireless Integration
The Protector connects to measureQuick via Bluetooth Low Energy, streaming real-time CO readings directly into the measureQuick platform during combustion analysis and ambient air quality assessments. This integration allows technicians to document CO levels alongside other system measurements in a single report, giving service managers verified evidence of safe operating conditions or identified hazards at each job site.
Field Maintenance and Connectivity
The primary lithium battery (Tadiran TL-5935) provides an estimated 5-year service life based on 8-hour shifts with no alarms and one daily data upload. The sensor module, battery, filter, and alarm sounder are all user-replaceable. Field calibration is supported through the device menu with an included snap-on calibration cup, through the Protector Mobile Connect companion app, or through an optional dock. Bump testing completes in under 5 seconds. Over-the-air firmware updates are delivered via Bluetooth through the app or dock. The Protector Fleet Manager cloud software provides centralized data storage, compliance reporting, and fleet-wide configuration management.
